Patriots 33 Bills 24

Steve Grogan threw for one touchdown, Patrick Egu ran for another and Maurice Hurst returned a Jim Kelly interception sixteen yards for the go ahead score as the New England Patriots defeated the Buffalo Bills 33-24 at Sullivan Stadium. Jason Staurovsky added four field goals for the Patriots, who won for just the fourth time all season. The Bills led 10-6 at halftime behind a Thurman Thomas three yard scoring run and a Scott Norwood 31 yard field goal. Egu scored on a 15 yard for New England in the third quarter to give the Patriots their first lead of the day at 13-10. In the fourth quarter Larry Kinnebrew scored on a one yard run and Kelly tossed a 25 yard touchdown pass to Thomas as Buffalo took a 24-13 lead. Grogan was 12 of 26 for 167 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. His touchdown, a 14 yarder to Hart Lee Dykes brought the Patriots within four at 24-20. A Staurovsky field goal brought New England within one with just over three minutes left. Within the last four minutes, Kelly threw an interception returned for a touchdown by Hurst and then fumbled with 1:35 left ending the hopes of a Bills comeback. On the day Buffalo turned the ball over six times. Kelly finished 21 of 41 for 356 yards with the one touchdown and two interceptions. Andre Reed led all receivers with 107 yards receiving on six catches. New England's John Stephens led all rushers with 126 yards on 23 carries.
